Project Description

Back in 2014 Monique and Robyn decided that there was no better place to start going plastic free than a small mining town in the middle of the vast West Australian outback. With some funds to get supplies, we ordered a range of paper and reusable bags to share among the shop owners. With some help from students at St Luke’s College, a survey was undertaken to find out what was stopping retailers from going plastic bag free, and what help they needed to remove these barriers.

Two months later and a bunch of big boxes arrived with the new bags! Our team shared them out across the retailers. It was wonderful to see how retailers learnt how easy it was to use non-plastic bags, and to see them continue to follow this path in the future.
