Project Description

Advocacy with the Stop Adani Movement, 2016-2017

Indian mining giant, Adani, is in the final planning stages of building Australia’s largest coal mine in the middle of Queensland – a mine that will see pollution frequently enter waters of Australia’s iconic Great Barrier Reef, undermine Indigenous land rights, and pollute the climate. The Queensland and Federal governments are still avid in support of the controversial mine – including $1 billion of taxpayer funds and permits to access Australia’s water supplies – calling on activists from around the country, at all levels, to help put a stop to the coal mine and to conserve the reef for generations to come.

Robyn from Earth Activists has been actively involved in campaigning against the mine in Queensland. Through partnerships with 350.org and the Stop Adani Alliance, Robyn has provided support to frontline volunteers and assisted in organising a series of peaceful protests around Brisbane.
